The Ace 5 name has been formally confirmed by OnePlus.

Tetraphobia is indeed a reality in China. It is believed that number 4 is inauspicious; because of this, manufacturers of smartphones generally skip the number in product names. No exception here; OnePlus also confirmed that the next generation in its Ace lineup would be Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro, so 4 has been skipped over.

OnePlus’ Li Jie further confirmed on Weibo that he had just seen some performance test data about the series, and the results are really exciting-in fact one whole generation ahead compared to those in competition among the same class of phones by OnePlus.

The OnePlus Ace 5 might as well be rebranded internationally as OnePlus 13R. It should be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset if rumor says. On the other side, the Ace 5 Pro will boast Snapdragon 8 Elite feature. As they speculate, the two would be arriving sometime in December.

For the Ace 5, it would sport a flat display and a circular island for the camera in the top left part of the back, along with a 6.78-inch ”1.5K” LTPO AMOLED, 16GB of RAM, 512GB internal storage, a 50MP main camera, and an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP decorative (either macro or depth, we presume) sensor, a 16MP selfie snapper, and then a large battery of over 6,000 mAh with support for 100W fast wired charging.
